HELISKIING IN THE SPANISH PYRENEES

Holiday in Val d’Aran

Heliskiing at the entrance to Baqueira Beret, the largest resort in the Spanish Pyrenees, is perfect for a getaway that combines great skiing and conviviality. Situated in the province of Lerida, Val d’Aran is a small, autonomous valley that benefits from the proximity of the Atlantic, creating an ocean climate with great snow conditions. The heliskiing area covers some 400 km2 with alpine terrain that offers some wonderful skiing. There is a wide range of accommodation in the valley to suit all tastes. To be discovered right away!

PROGRAM

We offer holidays of 3 to 5 days, but in both cases the program is the same: heliskiing and discovery.

we meet at Toulouse airport which is about 100 km from the small mountain valley of Val d’Aran.
The team will meet you with a private minibus and drive you to the hotel you are staying in during your getaway in Catalunya.
You can take your time to settle in and explore the resort before meeting your guides.
They will update you on the weather conditions, run through the program and check your equipment.

After breakfast, it is time to get the day started. Before leaving to go skiing, the guides will run through the essential safety briefing to remind you of all the instructions specific to heliskiing and off-piste skiing.
Whether you spend 3 or 5 days in Val d’Aran, the aim is to make the most of your stay: to enjoy the long descents with a variety of terrain and lovely Spanish powder snow.
The guides and pilots, who know the region inside out, will make the best choices to allow you to discover the wide range of routes in this exclusive area.
You will ski wild untouched slopes with an average descent of 800 meters.
Lunch will be brought along in the helicopter to enjoy on the mountain so you can set off again full of energy.
You can usually do five set-downs in a day, but this will depend on the weather conditions and the group’s physical condition.
After your day’s skiing, it’s time to relax! The nearby resorts of Baqueira Beret and Viehla are very well equipped and, depending on your preference, you can relax with a massage, go shopping or get into the Spanish way of life with some tapas.
You will not be disappointed by the choice of gastronomic dishes in the many restaurants.
Traditional, comforting cuisine, perfect in winter, combining traditional Aranese dishes and French influences will delight gourmets.
The warm, friendly atmosphere will add the finishing touches to these cozy evenings.

After a final big half-day of heliskiing, it will be time to pack your bags and head back to the airport.

ACCOMMODATION

There is a wide range of accommodation in the Val d’Aran region so you can choose your preference.
We can propose a selection of hotels ranging from small, charming hotels to 5 star luxury in the centre of Baqueira Beret or Viehla.
Baqueira Beret is the most exclusive Catalan resort in the Spanish Pyrenees and is known as the “King’s Resort” because the Spanish royal family regularly visits to enjoy its facilities.
It has over a dozen high-end hotels with the wood and stone architecture that is typical of Val d’Aran. Of course, these hotels offer lovely spas for you to relax in.
You can also enjoy excellent dinners at one of the high-quality restaurants in the resort. The atmosphere is somewhat calmer than in Viehla.
Viehla is the capital of Val d’Aran, some fifteen kilometers away. Shopping enthusiasts will find a wide range of boutiques, as well as tapas bars and restaurants there…
